IF THERE'S one think Lego fans are good at it's connecting.

But it still came as a shock when almost 1000 turned out at the Coast's first Brick Resales event at the University of the Sunshine Coast's Innovation Centre yesterday.

Brick Resales founder and local resident Judy Friedman has been running the events for the past nine years.

She purchases Lego pieces, cleans them, sorts them and then offers them for sale for $5 per 100g.

Gold coins are requested on entry to the events to raise money for domestic violence charity RizeUp.

"It's gone crazy viral, it really has,” Ms Friedman said.

She's been running events mostly in Brisbane, not realising the demand for Lego on the Sunshine Coast until now.

"It was really amazing,” she said, adding the events helped plenty with autism, Asperger's and more to socialise.

Lego enthusiasts came from as far as Bundaberg to the event which had about 300kg of Lego for sale.
