Autism Aspergers Advocacy Australia (A4) released a new report on the relationship between autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and mental health.

It deals with a number of perception and outcomes about ASD in the context of mental health.

This report may or may not relate to the Senate Community Affairs Committee Inquiry into mental health and its "omission" of A4's submission to the inquiry (see http://a4.org.au/a4/node/417).

This report includes detailed data showing the number of people diagnosed with autism from independent sources in Australia ... see pages 6-9 of the report.

There is detailed reporting of the number of people aged 0-16 years getting Carer Allowance. These data are for the whole of Australia: these are population data, not a survey.

The report also includes detailed data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) 2009 Survey of Disability Ageing and Carers (SDAC) that is not (yet?) published elsewhere.
