Rules and/or Constitution

Rules were drafted when A4 formed initially. The rules were not adopted.

Generally, a set of rules for an organisation like A4 requires regular (usually annual) election of executives and perhaps a committee. Most members of the founding group and the subsequent Steering Committee felt:

  • grassroots members of A4 are unlikely nominate for an executive or committee position if they had to run am election campaign over the internet
  • A4 members are scattered all over the country, members do not know each other ... so it would be difficult for A4 members to vote effectively
  • nominees would have to expend too much effort just to get elected, there are better uses of their effort
  • A4 does not have a suitable mechanism/process for running a national election (even on the internet)

This could change if there are A4 members who want to sort out the issues. A4 members are encouraged to discuss the issue in the forums section of the A4 website.

The most recent draft rules are attached in case you are interested in progressing them.
